Paid energy internships launched for women: eligible categories announced

Women interested in pursuing a career in the energy sector can apply starting May 19 for a new round of the Internship Program for Women in Energy. This program is launched by the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE) with support from the World Bank.
The program is part of the "Sustainable Transition through Energy Efficiency in Moldova" (STEEM) project and is designed for students, graduates, and young professionals at the beginning of their careers who wish to gain practical experience in the energy sector.
Applications can be submitted until June 8, and the internship will last for six months. This is a paid program, and there is a possibility of subsequent employment within the participating companies.
Women in their final year of a bachelor's or master's degree, as well as those who have graduated in engineering or STEM fields in the last three years, are encouraged to apply.
"Through this program, we aim to support the professional development of women in the energy sector by providing practical experience and real employment opportunities. Women are currently underrepresented in this field, making up only about 20-25% of the workforce. Promoting their participation is essential for fostering innovation, leadership, and inclusive growth," said Ruslan Surugiu, director of UCIPE.
Selected participants will benefit from technical training, individual mentoring, and support for professional integration at seven energy-sector companies and institutions that are ready to host internships and potentially offer employment opportunities afterward.
The application file must include:
- An updated CV
- A copy of the diploma or confirmation of studies
- A letter of intent (300-500 words) addressing: "Why I want to work in the energy sector, why I am passionate about engineering, and how this internship will shape my career."
- (Optional) A letter of recommendation from a professor or academic coordinator
Documents can be sent to the email address: [email protected].
Please note that participants selected in the previous edition, the first of its kind, are currently completing their internships and have the opportunity to continue working with the companies that hosted them.
