International support for Moldovan farmers secured through Rome agreement

Moldovan producers will receive assistance in processing and marketing agri-food products to meet European requirements and international quality standards, following a new agreement signed in Rome. This support will be aimed at small and medium-sized farmers, cooperatives, and producer associations.

The document was signed by Ludmila Catlabuga, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Biagio Di Terlizzi, the director of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM Bari). This institution focuses on international cooperation in sustainable agriculture, rural development, food security, and adapting to climate change.

"Our ongoing dialogue over the years has led to a significant initiative funded by Italian Cooperation, which will enhance our relations with the European Union, particularly with Italy," stated Minister Ludmila Catlabuga in a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

The project, titled "Support for the Government of the Republic of Moldova in aligning with EU legislation in the fields of agriculture and rural development," is valued at 4 million euros and will be implemented over three years.
