Dan Perciun: More measures planned to support teachers

Education Minister Dan Perciun has announced that teachers will receive salary increases that are significantly higher than the rate of inflation starting in September. He stated that these new raises are included in the salary law prepared by the authorities. The exact figures will be disclosed soon by the Ministry of Finance.

"It's a significant increase above inflation. While it's a positive step, we cannot claim to be resolving the salary issue with this alone. This matter will remain on the agenda, and we will continue to work towards improvement," said Dan Perciun, who refrained from providing specific percentages or amounts.

Dan Perciun emphasized that higher salaries for teachers are contingent upon economic growth and the effective allocation of public funds.

"We cannot achieve much higher salaries without consistent economic growth. Additionally, we must make better use of our available resources," stated the Minister of Education on Jurnal TV.

According to statistics, teachers' salaries have, for the first time, surpassed the average salary in the economy, as the minister noted, even though "the difference is modest." He mentioned that a young teacher currently earns between 11,000 and 12,000 lei, including performance and specific bonuses, while a teacher with a higher teaching degree and full-time workload can earn approximately 16,000 lei.
