Igor Dodon, a sharp message for former PSRM members who left the party: "There is no way back"
The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) comes with a trenchant message for former party members who chose to leave the political party for other parties. Igor Dodon, who has returned to the post of president of the Socialists, says he is convinced that his former party colleagues will soon want to return to the PSRM team - but that will be impossible, he says.
"To those who have left I want to give a very clear message. Even if you want to come back, there is no going back. You have given yourselves up to all sorts of beliefs. For us, you no longer exist politically," PSRM President Igor Dodon told a briefing today.
The politician today confirmed his return to the PSRM leadership. Dodon says that despite rumours, the Socialists remain consolidated and united.
"As of today, all my statements are from the PSRM. There has been a lot of talk about the PSRM lately: that it is being liquidated, that it is being dismantled. We had many threats, many who were burying us politically, but today the socialist team is the only one that can be in government," Igor Dodon added.
Several mayors, elected on the lists of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, have recently announced that they are leaving the party and joining the Movement for the People, which also includes the "Sor" political party. The announcement by the local MPs came shortly after Socialist deputies Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovschi announced their withdrawal from the PSRM.
After these departures, the faction of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists remained with 29 deputies in the legislature.
