Ukraine targets Russian oil hubs in Taganrog and Crimea

Ukrainian drones targeted Russian energy and port infrastructure overnight, sparking large-scale fires in the port city of Taganrog and occupied Crimea. Local open-source intelligence and social media footage indicated a coordinated, high-volume drone operation.

Port infrastructure ablaze in Taganrog

Rostov Oblast Governor Yuri Slyusar confirmed via Telegram that the strikes ignited a fuel reservoir, an oil tanker, and an administrative building within the Taganrog port. The attack reportedly injured two civilians.

Taganrog Mayor Svetlana Kambulova stated that the drones specifically hit pier loading infrastructure. While municipal authorities claim the fires were quickly extinguished, social media footage from local residents showed extensive blazes across the harbor area.

Secondary strikes rock occupied Crimea

Separate explosions rocked Feodosia in occupied Crimea at approximately 3:20 a.m. local time. Local monitoring channels reported that an oil depot was targeted and caught fire during the raid, though the exact scale of the damage remains unverified.

Strategic implications

Taganrog operates as a vital Russian port on the Sea of Azov, located just 40 kilometers from the Ukrainian border with the occupied Donetsk region. The port serves as a critical logistics hub for Russian military supply lines into eastern Ukraine.

According to data compiled by the Poland-based media outlet Vot Tak, Ukrainian forces have struck Russian oil refineries and energy infrastructure at least 158 times since the beginning of the full-scale war.
