Stefanos Sakellaridis wins dramatic tennis final in Moldova

Greek tennis player Stefanos Sakellaridis secured a dramatic comeback victory against Romania's Cezar Cretu to claim the singles championship title following a week of high-caliber tournament action.
Sakellaridis overturned a first-set loss to defeat Cretu 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the final. The unseeded Greek athlete climbed to the top of the podium despite starting outside the tournament's top eight favorites, while Cretu fell just short after battling his way up from the qualifying rounds.
Tournament prize distribution
The championship victory earned Sakellaridis €23,700 (approx. 464,520 MDL) a financial prize along with 100 ATP ranking points. As the runner-up, Cretu received €14,000 and 50 world ranking points for his performance.
Local performances and doubles results
Host nation the Republic of Moldova saw two representatives compete on the main singles draw. Radu Albot reached the semifinals before elimination, while fellow countryman Ilie Snitari exited the tournament in the first round.
In the doubles division, the American duo of George Goldhoff and Theodore Winegar clinched the title. The pair defeated compatriots Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow in the final match.
