Rainwater reaches wards: Florești Hospital block set for renovation

The infectious diseases block at Florești District Hospital will be renovated as part of the "Initiative for the Development of Sustainable Public Infrastructure through Energy Efficiency Renovations (INSPIREE)" project, which aims to modernize public infrastructure and enhance energy efficiency.

The building, constructed in 1984, has not undergone any significant renovations and currently ranks among the coldest facilities within the medical institution. Authorities have noted that this situation negatively impacts both the working conditions for medical staff and the treatment environment for patients.

Lealea Tafuni, head of the Infectious Diseases Department, has reported that over the years, only cosmetic repairs have been made to the wards, with no substantial upgrades to the building's energy systems. The absence of a modern ventilation system leads to high temperatures in summer and cold conditions in winter.

“The roof is old, and during heavy rains, water infiltrates into some of the wards,” the doctor explained.

According to her, this project is eagerly anticipated by both employees and patients at the district hospital.

The infectious diseases unit serves not only the residents of Florești district but also patients from Soroca, Bălți, Șoldănești, and Telenești districts.

In the coming period, energy audits and technical assessments will be conducted.

The “INSPIREE” project is funded by the French Development Agency through a 30 million-euro loan and by the German Government through a 38.7 million-euro grant. The funds will be allocated to renovate 30 public buildings.
