Village of Corlăteni turns into horticultural innovation hub

The village of Corlăteni in the Râșcani district transformed into a hub of horticultural innovation for a day. Fruit growers gathered for a new edition of the "Fruit Day" exhibition, which focused on the concept of the "orchard of the future." This concept emphasizes creating more efficient and profitable orchards that meet new market demands.
The event, organized by the “Moldova-Fruct” Association, featured 42 companies ready to showcase how farmers can run a modern agricultural business.
For farmers, this event was an excellent opportunity to learn industry practices and discover new technologies emerging on the market.
Ștefan Plăcintă, who manages an orchard covering 186 hectares, emphasized the importance of such gatherings. “Over the past four years, we have planted 186 hectares of orchard using a super-intensive cultivation system. These festivals bring together producers, like us. We can explore various companies, agricultural equipment, and chemical products. It serves as a great platform for dialogue and knowledge,” stated Ștefan Plăcintă.
Victor Bajereanu, another producer, shared his thoughts on the event: “This is not our first time participating. We join all the exhibitions because we are eager to see the latest developments in the horticultural field and to connect with colleagues in agriculture.”
Valeriu Matcovschi, who grows apples on 26 hectares, also attended the exhibition. He expressed his commitment to participating in events like this, saying, “We strive to show which companies and producers are in the Republic of Moldova, to present the results from our orchard, and to learn about new technologies in horticulture.”

Officials from Chisinau recognized at the event that Moldovan fruit growers are increasingly striving for better performance, which is reflected in the rising export figures.
"The citizens of the Republic of Moldova no longer just talk about Moldovan fruits; now the fruits speak for our country. We are gaining much more recognition, thanks to our producers who are determined, eager for information, and highly efficient in their efforts", stated Vasile Șarban, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
"This meeting is crucial for sharing expertise and showcasing achievements from this year and previous years. It is important because there are innovative developments, and such events stimulate investment interest, attracting more investors", added Deputy Serghei Ivanov, Chairman of the Agriculture and Food Industry Committee.
"People come here to gain new knowledge, to engage with one another, and to ask questions of the authorities responsible for policies in the agro-industrial sector," said Vitalie Gorincioi, President of the "Moldova-Fruct" Association.
The event was supported by strategic partners including the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, Swiss Cooperation in Moldova, and Helvetas Moldova.
