Drone explosion reported near Lopatna village in Moldova
A drone exploded near the village of Lopatna in the Orhei district during the night, according to official reports. The Moldovan General Inspectorate of Police confirmed that the incident caused no casualties.
A local resident alerted the Orhei police around midnight after spotting an unidentified flying object, suspected to be a drone, which subsequently exploded in an open field outside the village area.
Specialized intervention teams and emergency services immediately deployed to the site to secure the perimeter and ensure public safety.
"Following preliminary investigations, it was established that no persons were injured. This morning, the investigations were resumed, and the responsible institutions continue to document the case and collaborate with competent national structures to establish all circumstances," the General Inspectorate of Police stated.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the origin and technical characteristics of the aircraft.
