Russian drone attacks hit Ukraine's Odesa and infrastructure

Russian drone strikes targeted the port city of Odessa and multiple regions across Ukraine on the morning of June 8, killing at least one person and injuring several others.

In Odesa, a kamikaze drone struck a public transport stop during the morning rush hour where several civilians were waiting.

Casualties and immediate regional impact

The strike initially left two individuals injured, though officials later confirmed the toll had risen to three. The casualties include two women, aged 64 and 65, and a 55-year-old minibus driver, all of whom have been hospitalized.

"The enemy attacked the city. Preliminarily, there are two wounded. People were waiting for transport at the station," stated a military official at the scene.

In the southern part of the Odessa region, Russian forces targeted critical energy infrastructure, according to regional governor Oleh Kiper. The attack cut off electricity supply to more than 2,000 consumers, while an additional drone strike damaged a residential building in Chornomorsk without causing casualties.

Overnight strikes across multiple oblasts

The morning wave followed a series of intense overnight attacks across the country. In Kharkiv, a Shahed drone struck an Ukrposhta postal hub in the Kholodnohirskyi district, partially destroying the facility and triggering a 1,000-square-meter fire.

Meanwhile, a strike on a residential area in Konotop, Sumy region, resulted in one fatality and left three others injured. Emergency services spent the night extinguishing fires and clearing debris across the affected zones.

Widespread damage to Dnipropetrovsk and Chernihiv

The Dnipropetrovsk region faced approximately 40 separate attacks targeting four distinct districts. In Nikopol, fires damaged private homes, outbuildings, a garage, and a vehicle, leaving four civilians wounded.

Further damage to transport links, residential sectors, and commercial properties was reported in Dnipro, Pavlohrad, and Synelnykove. In the northern Chernihiv region, drone strikes targeted local enterprises in Koriukivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi, setting commercial trucks on fire.

In total, Russia launched 155 drones of various types across Ukraine overnight. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully neutralized 124 of the incoming unmanned aerial vehicles by 08:00 AM.
