Sergiu Caraman re-elected chair of the Superior Council of Magistracy

Sergiu Caraman was re-elected as chair of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) on June 9. He secured a new two-year term after receiving eight votes from Council members.
Four members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) voted for Aliona Miron, a judge and SCM member, who ran against Sergiu Caraman.
Caraman has led the SCM since July 2023, when he was appointed acting chair. In July 2024, he was elected chair for a two-year term, and today SCM members voted to re-elect him for another term.
"Dear colleagues, thank you for your trust. I do not see this vote as personal recognition. I see it as a mandate to continue what we started together," Caraman said after the results were announced.
Before taking over the leadership of the Superior Council of Magistracy, Caraman served as a judge at the Criuleni and Florești district courts. He has been a member of the SCM since May 2023, representing the judiciary.
