Moldova launches €39.4m glass factory tender

Moldova’s Public Property Agency has launched an investment tender to privatize the Chisinau Glass Factory. The initial starting price for the state-owned asset is set at €39.4 million (approx. 773 million MDL).
The selected investor must commit to investing at least €20.5 million (approx. 401.8 million MDL) over a three-year period. This capital injection aims to modernize technological processes, boost production capacity, and ensure regional competitiveness.
To qualify for the competitive tender, bidders must submit an official application and provide a financial guarantee of €10,200 (approx. 200,000 MDL). The deadline for submitting formal offers is September 30.
The Moldovan government has attempted to privatize the Chisinau Glass Factory since 2012. Despite achieving profitability over the past four years, the plant faces severe technical challenges, with 81% of its operating assets currently depreciated.
The factory still maintains a strong commercial footprint, commanding a 30% share of Moldova's domestic market. It currently exports glass packaging products to clients across more than 30 countries.
