Honorary Consulate opens in Denmark

The Republic of Moldova has opened an Honorary Consulate in the city of Roskilde, Denmark. The consular district, inaugurated on June 11, will serve the Zealand region and will be headed by Honorary Consul Lasse Schmidt.

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the opening of the Honorary Consulate marks another step in strengthening Moldovan Danish relations. It aims to promote the interests and image of the Republic of Moldova in Denmark, deepen dialogue with local and regional authorities, and encourage economic, cultural, educational, and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
The consulate will also strengthen ties with the Moldovan diaspora and support initiatives of shared interest.
The inauguration took place on June 11 and brought together representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local authorities, business, academic, and civic communities, members of the consular corps, and Moldovan citizens living in Denmark. The event marked an important milestone in advancing the friendship and cooperation between Moldova and Denmark.
Guests also enjoyed a tasting of Moldovan wines, which showcased the country's winemaking traditions and the diversity of its wines.
The cultural programme featured a concert by the band "Free Spirit Organ Trio," which created a memorable atmosphere and further encouraged cultural dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and Denmark.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on January 20, 1992.
