Moldova joins EIT innovation hub to accelerate green mobility

Moldova’s Ministry of Energy and the EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub East signed a Memorandum of Understanding on June 15, 2026. This agreement formalizes a strategic partnership to modernize the nation’s energy sector and mobility infrastructure.
The collaboration integrates Moldova into a premier European network, bridging the gap between local startups and continental resources. It prioritizes the deployment of sustainable transport and clean energy technologies.
The EIT Innovation Hub East serves as a critical node for urban mobility and sustainable transport across Eastern Europe. The organization orchestrates cooperation between public authorities, academia, and private capital to scale technological solutions.
This partnership unlocks specific pathways for Moldovan entities, including access to European funding and cross-border research initiatives. It also creates a framework for pilot projects in electric mobility and charging infrastructure development.
The agreement further strengthens the country's position within regional energy markets. It fosters synergy with neighboring partners, including Romania and Ukraine, to develop shared green energy initiatives.
