Valeriu Chiveri: No international cooperation with Tiraspol structures

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, firmly rejected any form of international cooperation that would involve the structures in Tiraspol. This statement was made following a government meeting on June 17, in response to certain interpretations regarding international partners' interactions with the Transnistrian administration.

According to official sources, recent events exemplify manipulation and propaganda reminiscent of tactics used by the authorities in Tiraspol.

Valeriu Chiveri stated, "There has never been, is not, and cannot be any international cooperation involving the structures from Tiraspol, which illegally and temporarily govern the eastern districts of the Republic of Moldova. Occasional visits from our partners to Tiraspol serve various objectives, the most crucial being the promotion of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and advancing the process of the country’s reintegration."

Chiveri emphasized that the surge of anti-reintegration statements from Tiraspol signals a sense of "agony and panic." He noted, "The frequency of these events and statements reveals a simple truth: the reintegration process has made significant strides and has reached a critical point—into the minds and hearts of the people. This creates growing discomfort for those who derive their political and financial existence from hatred and division, and they will continue to resist. The Government of the Republic of Moldova is fully committed to promoting the reintegration process, which has no alternatives."

Regarding Tiraspol's extension of the economic state of emergency, Chiveri said that, in practical terms, not much will change. "With this decision, the authorities in Tiraspol are attempting to project an image of effectively managing the economic situation and implementing measures to safeguard citizens in the eastern districts. Another aspect of this situation is the propaganda aimed at external partners, attempting to suggest that the Republic of Moldova continues to impose an economic blockade on the region—an assertion we firmly reject", he concluded.

The Transnistrian region declared an economic state of emergency on December 18, 2025, and has periodically extended it since then, citing vulnerabilities in gas supplies and their impact on the local economy.
