DescOperă” Festival returns to Butuceni

The "DescOperă" festival is returning to Butuceni this weekend for its anniversary edition, featuring a lineup of artists from both the country and abroad. Svetlana Bivol, the director of the "Serghei Lunchevici" National Philharmonic, notes that the event has continually evolved over the years, establishing itself as a cultural landmark that attracts an ever-growing audience along the banks of the Răut.

The "DescOperă" festival will commence on June 18. According to the director of the "Serghei Lunchevici" National Philharmonic, the event will showcase a diverse range of musical groups across genres, except for folklore. The festival's scenic backdrop enhances the overall atmosphere, creating a beautiful experience.

This year's edition promises exceptional moments, including performances by the "Teleradio-Moldova" Company Orchestra and a gala concert celebrating the works of Johann Strauss, conducted by maestro Gheorghe Mustea.

"Even the frogs croak along the Răut when the music plays; truly fascinating things happen here. I am confident that the audience will experience moments of profound revelation alongside these remarkable artistic performances. We expect many visitors, including international guests. I know of entire groups who have registered and purchased tickets in advance to take in everything that happens in Butuceni. Each festival gives a fresh perspective of our country, making it more interesting and compelling," stated Svetlana Bivol.

Svetlana also emphasized the importance of the festival's educational aspect, noting that culture and quality music play a vital role in shaping the younger generation. Additionally, the festival serves as a social gathering, fostering dialogue and communication among attendees.

"Trust me, good music—especially classical music—encourages dialogue, creates a welcoming atmosphere, and promotes well-being. People leave feeling uplifted and more harmonious," Svetlana added.

During the same program, the director of the National Philharmonic "Serghei Lunchevici" announced that the closing concert for the 2025-2026 Concert Season will take place on June 29, featuring an extraordinary symphonic performance at the Palace of the Republic.

She mentioned that the season has been "filled with events, beautiful emotions, and positive responses from the audience."
