Beriozchi murders: Main suspect sentenced to 20 years in prison

The primary suspect in the serial murders in the village of Beriozchi, Anenii Noi district, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for one of the criminal cases. This sentence was issued on June 18 by the magistrates of the Causeni Court.

In December 2011, prosecutors successfully established that the defendant killed a 60-year-old man to avoid paying him for housework.

After committing the crime, the defendant buried the victim's body.

Investigators suspect that he has committed at least six serious crimes over the years. He was arrested in late 2025 after years of terrorising his fellow villagers.
