Moldova launches sustainable tourism grants up to €38,000 for NGOs

The National Tourism Office (NTO) has launched the Sustainable Tourism grant program, offering funding of up to €38,167 (approx. 750,000 MDL) per project.

The initiative targets Moldovan non-profit organizations focused on regional development. It aims to scale local initiatives into competitive tourism products.

Strategic areas of investment

The program allocates funding across three core pillars: tourism product development, destination marketing, and sector digitalization.

Individual grant values range from a minimum of €15,267 (approx. 300,000 MDL) to a maximum of €38,167. Beneficiaries must provide a minimum co-financing contribution of 20%.

"Moldova possesses all the necessary assets to establish itself as a compelling travel destination, from our historic wine heritage to ecotourism and rich cultural legacy," stated Ana Sandra, Interim Director of the NTO. "Through this program, we aim to empower local initiatives to scale their operations and capture international market visibility."

Application criteria and funding

The call for proposals is restricted to non-profit organizations with a proven track record in tourism development or managing similar structural projects.

The application window remains open until August 19.

Financed directly through the state budget via the national Growth Plan, the program seeks to stimulate long-term hospitality investments and diversify the country's travel portfolio.
