Prime Minister Munteanu discussed security cooperation and stronger economic ties with Donald Tusk

The Republic of Moldova aims to sustain the momentum of its reforms and progress swiftly in the negotiation process. This statement was made by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu during a meeting with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Conference for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which was held in Gdańsk on June 25 and 26.
Officials have discussed the recent achievements in the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and the significant support provided by Poland along this journey. The two prime ministers highlighted the importance of the recent opening of official negotiations on Cluster 1, Fundamental Values, which represents a new stage in the EU accession process.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu expressed his gratitude to Poland for its ongoing support for Moldova, both politically and through practical assistance during critical moments.
“Our goal is to maintain the pace of reforms and to progress as quickly as possible in the negotiation process, based on merit and the results achieved,” the Prime Minister stated. He also mentioned Moldova's interest in continuing to benefit from Poland’s experience in the accession process, institutional modernization, and preparation for integration into the European single market.
The two prime ministers agreed that a stronger and more resilient Moldova contributes directly to the stability and security of the entire region.

During the high-level meeting in Gdańsk, Alexandru Munteanu emphasized that the reconstruction of Ukraine should not be viewed solely as an economic or infrastructure endeavor, but rather as a strategic security initiative for all of Europe. The Prime Minister highlighted that the Republic of Moldova will continue to actively support Ukraine by enhancing regional connectivity, strengthening transport routes, and bolstering energy security.
A sustainable recovery for Ukraine requires long-term security, connectivity, and solidarity. The Republic of Moldova will remain committed to enhancing the stability and resilience of the entire region. Supporting Ukraine means supporting European security and regional stability, including the Republic of Moldova, stated Alexandru Munteanu.

The Gdańsk meeting is the fifth edition of the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine and the first one hosted by Poland in collaboration with Ukraine. The event brought together European officials to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, the reconstruction process, the role of European Union expansion, and the measures needed to strengthen regional resilience.
During the event, the Prime Minister has scheduled bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of Albania, Edi Rama; Estonia, Kristen Michal; and Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko. Additionally, he will meet with Odile Renaud-Basso, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
