Moldova received 12 million overseas parcels in 2025; postal revenues neared one billion lei

In 2025, online commerce and international deliveries reached new heights, setting a record year. The number of postal items arriving from abroad grew by 20.7%, totaling 13.1 million. Most of these items were parcels and small packages, which saw a remarkable 23.5% increase, approaching 12 million items.

The postal services market in the Republic of Moldova generated revenue of 940 million lei in 2025, up 300 million lei from 2024. This information is detailed in the report on the evolution of the postal services market.

According to the National Agency for Regulation in Communications (ARCOM), growth in the postal services market in 2025 was driven by increased international shipments and the development of the parcel and small-package delivery segments.

Domestic postal services

Last year, postal service providers handled approximately 42.9 million items in total, of which 28.9 million were domestic.

The number of shipments within the Republic of Moldova decreased by about three million, primarily due to a decline in traditional correspondence, which fell from 27.5 million to 23.5 million letters.

Conversely, the volume of small-parcel shipments increased by 500,000, while other types of shipments rose by approximately 900,000.

On average, an urban postal office serves roughly three times as many customers as a rural postal office.

International postal services sent

The number of international postal items sent from the Republic of Moldova increased by approximately 60%, reaching 761,200 items. This growth was primarily driven by a remarkable 120% increase in the number of parcels and small packages sent abroad, totalling 310,300 items. Additionally, the number of letters sent rose from 347,000 in 2024 to 450,000 in 2025.

International services received

In 2025, residents of the Republic of Moldova received over 13.1 million postal items, an increase of 2.3 million compared to 2024. This growth was largely attributed to the receipt of parcels, small packages, and other items. This segment of services generated the highest profit for providers, with a total revenue exceeding half a billion lei.

Increase in urban post offices

Data reported to ARCOM indicate that the number of post offices and agencies has risen by 17.9%, reaching 1,474 locations.

Of these, more than 1,200 post offices are situated in urban areas, while approximately 250 are located in rural areas.

Moldovan Post remains the leading postal service provider in the Republic of Moldova, holding a 70.4% market share and handling 30.1 million shipments. However, this represents a decline of seven million shipments from previous levels. In contrast, Nova Post ranks second, with 10.1 million shipments and has experienced a threefold increase in volume.

In 2025, the number of active postal service providers rose from 19 to 21, and the national postal network grew by 224 offices.
