€270 million allocated to repair the Chisinau–Comrat road
The road linking Chișinău to Comrat will undergo complete repairs. This 65-kilometer section is a key part of the strategic route leading to Vama Giurgiulești, which is on the border with Romania. The project, valued at nearly 270 million euros, will be largely funded by the European Union (EU).

The European Union is providing the Republic of Moldova with a grant of nearly 233 million euros to rehabilitate a key road. The remaining funds for the project will be secured through a loan.
The primary focus of the investment will be on the road that connects the commune of Porumbrei to the town of Cimișlia. This road currently has two lanes and will be expanded to four lanes.
This 19-kilometer stretch is crucial for transporting goods, as it connects with Giurgiulesti International Port and helps avoid several localities along the route.
The construction works are part of a larger project and are scheduled to begin in 2027. Authorities estimate that the project will be completed within three years.

"It will be quite good; it will definitely not be worse. I believe it will be better in every respect. The traffic will be easier, and there will be fewer accidents. - Do you often drive on this road? - Yes."
"Let them proceed; I have a positive opinion and hope it happens as soon as possible."
"The town of Cimișlia will become less congested, making it easier for both residents and drivers. They will reach their destinations faster, with no obstacles in their way. All transport coming from Chișinău uses this route through the town center, as does traffic coming from Căușeni and Ștefan Vodă. During the day, it is always congested with vehicles," said Iurie Făureanu, the mayor of Porumbrei commune, in an interview with Moldova 1.
The M3 road, which leads to the Giurgiulesti International Port, was last rehabilitated in the early 1990s, but even then it was not fully repaired.
"Within this agreement, several national roads were examined, and funding for the Chișinău - Leușeni road is already secured. Another strategically important road with heavy traffic is the M3, which connects Chișinău to Comrat and Giurgiulesti. These sections have not yet been fully executed, particularly the Chișinău - Giurgiulesti connection," stated Nicolai Mîndra, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
The works will be divided into three projects and are set to be tendered next year.
By 2030, the entire Chișinău-Comrat section is expected to be completed.
