Sudan: At least 56 people killed, 600 others injured in explosions and gunfire
At least 56 people have died and 600 others have been injured after explosions and gunfire in Sudan's capital Khartoum, where fighting between paramilitaries and the country's army is raging for the second day in a row. According to the BBC, the dead include three UN workers.

The clashes erupted after tensions over a proposed transition to civilian rule. Paramilitary forces claim to have occupied the presidential palace, Khartoum airport and other key institutions. But this is denied by army leaders.
Sudanese journalist Mohammad Jadallah has posted a video showing dense smoke from this morning's explosions. He said the streets of the city are empty, shops are closed and children are screaming in fear.
On Saturday, the US State Department and UN leadership called for an immediate end to the violence.
