Chisinau builds €331k park-and-ride facility to ease city traffic

Municipal authorities in Chisinau have finalized plans to construct a new commuter park-and-ride facility in the western Buiucani district. The infrastructure project will operate on Codrilor Street, situated directly at the strategic urban entrance from the Balcani Highway.

Backed by an estimated €331,632 (approx. 6.5 million MDL) budget, the initiative aims to significantly reduce traffic congestion throughout the capital. Buiucani District Governor Vasile Moroi confirmed that the complex will feature 240 dedicated parking spaces. Municipal contractors are scheduled to complete all structural engineering and construction operations by the end of this year.
Infrastructure and connectivity
The new intermodal facility will deploy two distinct entry and exit channels to optimize vehicle flow. The modern layout also integrates a specialized passenger transit platform, public restroom facilities, and fully landscaped green zones.

To ensure high public safety standards, developers will install a comprehensive public lighting network alongside a digital video surveillance grid. The venture marks the second transit hub of this category slated for the Buiucani district, expanding upon a parallel development previously announced on Ghidighici Street.
