Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor are sanctioned by the UK Government
Moldovan citizens Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor, fugitives from Moldovan justice, have today been sanctioned by the UK Government under the UK’s Anti-Corruption Sanctions Regulations, announces the British Embassy in Chisinau in a post on Facebook

According to the quoted source “any assets owned by Plahotniuc or Shor in the UK, or in any of the UK’s Overseas Territories such as the British Virgin Islands or the Cayman Islands, will be frozen. UK citizens will be barred from all economic transactions with either of the sanctioned individuals who are henceforth denied entry to the UK”.
„Today, on World Anti-Corruption Day, these sanctions designations provide further evidence of our commitment to tackle high level corruption in all parts of the world. It is also evidence of our ongoing commitment to making the United Kingdom a hostile territory for illicit finance”, reads the message of the Embassy.
„We continue to enjoy excellent cooperation with our Moldovan partners in progressing all outstanding requests for Mutual Legal Assistance, between our two countries. Together, we stand committed to fighting corruption”, reads the mesage of the diplomatic mission.
"We have good news from London. Vlad Plahotniuc and Ilan Sor were sanctioned by the British Government. Any assets held by them in Great Britain will be frozen," Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița announced.
