"Local Product" exhibition features giant cherry pie and carpets

More than 300 producers from all regions of the Republic of Moldova will showcase their goods at the second edition of the national exhibition titled "Local Product". This event will take place from August 28 to 30 at the Moldexpo Center. The exhibition will highlight products made in the Republic of Moldova and will offer visitors a variety of unique activities aimed at promoting local entrepreneurs.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sergiu Harea, discussed an upcoming event organized at the end of August during the "Zi de Zi" show on Radio Moldova. This event coincides with many compatriots returning home to visit their families. Recognizing that they serve as significant ambassadors for the Republic of Moldova, the event aims to promote local producers through these individuals.

This year's edition features two notable innovations: a ranking of the country’s most appreciated wineries and a festival dedicated to home-cooked pies.

"This year, we have over 300 producers participating, which doubles last year's number. Most importantly, we are introducing two new elements: the Top of Wineries and the Festival of Local Pies. We aim to promote these two well-known products both domestically and internationally," Harea explained in his interview with Daniela Gherman.

A highlight of the exhibition will occur on the second day when the largest cherry pie ever made in the Republic of Moldova will be unveiled.

"On August 29, we will showcase to attendees the largest cherry pie in the Republic of Moldova. It will set a record at the 'Moldexpo' Center, and we invite everyone interested to join us for a tasting. Approximately 20 companies will collaborate in baking this pie, and it will truly be a grand creation," Harea added.

On the same day, the most esteemed wineries in the Republic of Moldova will receive awards, and visitors will have the opportunity to admire a gallery of traditional Moldovan carpets for the first time.

"There will be an exhibition area of approximately 600 square meters dedicated to national carpets. In total, we expect to have over 4,000 square meters of exhibition space, showcasing products from all regions of the Republic of Moldova, including the Transnistrian region and the Gagauz autonomy," said the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).

During the event, Sergiu Harea emphasized that Moldovan products are increasingly gaining ground in foreign markets, with the European Union remaining the primary destination for Moldovan exports.

"About 67% of our exports reach the European Union market. Following the 'Made in Moldova' exhibition held in early February, exports of pastries and frozen pies from the Republic of Moldova increased by 15-20%," stated Harea.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry called on consumers to support locally made products, highlighting that this year's exhibition slogan is "We grow with Moldova by consuming Moldovan. Let us support the local producer!"
