The European Union (EU) remains the primary trading partner of the Transnistrian region. According to data from the Office for Reintegration Policies for the first half of this year, the EU market accounted for 76.9% of the exports from companies on the left bank of the Nistru. Additionally, the EU accounted for 41.5% of goods imported into the region.

The primary markets for products from Transnistrian region are Romania, Italy, and Slovakia.

When it comes to imports, the key sources are Ukraine, European Union member states, and China.

Officials emphasize that these figures demonstrate the business environment on the left bank of the Nistru and in the municipality of Tighina (Bender) maintains strong economic ties with the European Union, which remains the most significant external market for companies in the region.

"These data confirm the stable orientation of the Transnistrian region towards the EU trade space, a process that directly supports the country's economic reintegration. Such approaches enhance economic connections between the two banks of the Nistru because accessing the European market requires regional companies to adhere to the same rules, procedures, documents, and standards applied throughout the Republic of Moldova," notes the Reintegration Policies Office.

Additionally, at the beginning of this year, 2,478 economic agents were registered in the Transnistrian region with the Public Services Agency (ASP), most of whom are registered temporarily.

According to official data, economic agents from the region paid approximately 166 million lei in customs duties for imported goods in 2025.
