Moldova Schools Upgrade Sanitation with Multi-Million Investment

The "Ion Luca Caragiale" Theoretical High School in Orhei has fully modernized its sanitation facilities following an investment of over €91,300 (approx. 1.79M MDL).
The project provides more than 1,500 students with safer, hygienic conditions and running hot water, which was previously unavailable at the institution.
National infrastructure program drives local upgrades
This renovation was executed under the national program for upgrading school sanitation facilities, managed by the Ministry of Education and Research.
The total investment reached nearly €91,300, with the state budget contributing over €86,700 and the school management covering the remaining €4,500.
"These spaces are now safer, cleaner, and healthier," said Galina Melenciuc, the school's principal. "The continuous access to running hot water is essential for daily hygiene and student well-being."
Expanded budget targeted for 2026
The Orhei school upgrade is part of the 2025 national initiative, which modernized facilities across 22 educational institutions nationwide.
Overall, the 2025 program improved learning conditions for nearly 18,500 students and working environments for more than 2,000 staff members, backed by a state allocation of over €1.02 million (20 million MDL).
The Ministry of Education and Research announced it will double the program's budget in 2026 to approximately €2.04 million (40 million MDL) to continue school upgrades across the country.
