Moldova president Maia Sandu foreign travel costs H1 2026

Moldovan President Maia Sandu completed 17 official foreign visits during the first half of 2026, representing the majority of the 36 international trips undertaken by the Presidential Administration.

Official figures show that total expenditure for presidential travel—covering airfare and per diems for all accompanying staff—reached €37,653 (approx. 738,000 MDL). Across the entire Presidential Administration, overall international travel costs totaled approximately €44,000 (approx. 861,000 MDL).

European focus and diplomatic travel

During this period, President Sandu carried out two official visits to France, which cost the state budget €7,398. Her international agenda also included official working visits to Romania, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Ireland, Finland, Cyprus, Lithuania, Slovakia, Latvia, Armenia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and Belgium.

Breakdown of delegation expenditures

Travel costs varied depending on delegation size and destination distance. The highest single expenditure was a four-person delegation visit to Dublin, Ireland, which totaled €4,112 (approx. 80,600 MDL).

Conversely, the lowest cost was recorded for a two-person visit to Antalya, Turkey, amounting to €903 (approx. 17,700 MDL).

President Sandu was most frequently accompanied on her foreign missions by Olga Roșca, Foreign Policy and European Affairs Advisor, and Stanislav Secrieru, National Security and Defense Advisor and Secretary of the Supreme Security Council.
