Andrei Zapșa has been Deputy General Director of the "Teleradio-Moldova" Company since 2025, responsible for television. Previously, he was Deputy General Director responsible for development within the Company, a position he was appointed to in November 2023. He graduated in economics, political science and diplomatic studies.

The next stage of the contest - the examination of the eligibility of the candidates based on the submitted files - will take place on Tuesday, July 14, starting at 1:00 p.m., at the headquarters of the "Teleradio-Moldova" Company.

We recall that the general director of TRM, Vlad Țurcanu, announced his resignation on May 18, during a press conference held two days after the Eurovision final, which prompted criticism of the way the national jury voted in the competition. He mentioned that the jury members, who awarded three points to Romania's representative at Eurovision and zero points to Ukraine's, did not take into account the sensitivities that exist between the Republic of Moldova and our neighbors.

*"I am announcing my decision to resign from the position of general director of the company 'Teleradio-Moldova'. (...) Even though we dissociated ourselves from the jury's decisions at the Eurovision final, the vote expressed is our responsibility and, first and foremost, mine, as the head of the institution. I avoided giving instructions to the jury, the jury members, and what happened is an extraordinary thing. From our point of view, the jury did not take into account the sensitivities between the Republic of Moldova and our neighbours, Romania and Ukraine, Vlad Țurcanu explained in his decision.

He is to exercise his mandate until the appointment of a new general director, but no more than six months from the date of the vacancy. The deputy general directors also exercise their mandates until the appointment of the new general director.

The general director is appointed for a seven-year term, which cannot be renewed.
