Moldova condemns Russian drone breach near Copanca

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has condemned the violation of the nation's sovereign airspace by a Russian-made drone. The aircraft crashed and detonated near the village of Copanca in the Căușeni district.

Authorities officially classified the incident as an egregious breach of national sovereignty. The MFA stated the event underscores the direct security risks posed by the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

The incident occurred early Monday at 01:03. According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the drone—identified as a Shahed-136 model—entered Moldovan territory during Russian airstrikes on Ukraine's Odessa region.

Local authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported following the explosion. Specialized state teams are currently on-site to investigate the crash and secure the perimeter.

The Moldovan government has reiterated its commitment to defending the country's territorial integrity. It announced plans to continue collaborating with international partners to bolster national security and resilience against ongoing external threats.
