"During the meeting, I was happy to receive the official notification from the authorities in Tokyo regarding the approval by the National Diet of Japan of a financial assistance of approximately 27 million dollars, announced during the visit of the head of state to Japan," wrote Nicu Popescu on his Telegram account. Popescu said that this money will reach the Republic of Moldova through international organizations and will be directed to the implementation of some projects in the fields of health, energy and food industry. The support is provided to mitigate the impact of the war in Ukraine on the Republic of Moldova. The meeting of the foreign minister with the ambassador of Japan took place on the occasion of Katayama Yoshihiro's conclusion of the mission in Chisinau. "I had a farewell meeting with Katayama Yoshihiro, the ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova, on the occasion of the end of his mandate in our country. I thanked the ambassador for his personal contribution to the strengthening of Moldovan-Japanese relations and for the support offered to the modernization of our country, for which President Maia Sandu, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, awarded him the "Order of Honor", wrote Popescu. At the beginning of December, President Maia Sandu visited Japan, where she discussed with the Japanese authorities about security in the region and the crises faced by the Republic of Moldova in the context of the war waged by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
