Moldova STS collects €315k tax from independent entrepreneurs

The State Tax Service of Moldova calculated €315,148 (approx. 6.18 million MDL) in unified taxes for independent entrepreneurs for June 2026. Officials issued nearly 3,200 payment notices, with a settlement deadline set for July 27.

Since the beginning of the year, total taxes calculated for this category of taxpayers exceeded EUR 724,490. Official system data shows 3,284 registered independent entrepreneurs as of July 10.

Rising revenues and digital transactions

Registered freelancers reported revenues of €2.1 million in June. The calculated unified tax rose by 14.04% compared to the previous month.

Over half of registered entrepreneurs (51.21%) executed transactions through dedicated business bank accounts. Among them, 61 taxpayers used cash register equipment connected to the Electronic Sales Monitoring system, processing cash receipts exceeding €41,100.

Taxpayers received payment notices via their registered electronic addresses. Notices remain accessible through the personal taxpayer portal and the EVO super-app.

Streamlined framework for independent professionals

Tax authorities advise taxpayers to use digital services, including the MPay processing system, for payments. Individuals requiring adjustments due to receipt errors or returns issued in March can file correction requests at any State Tax Service office.

Moldova introduced this special tax framework on January 1, 2026, to regulate self-employed individuals providing services without forming a legal entity. The regime eliminates corporate accounting and formal reporting for around 40 service sectors, including IT consulting, programming, design, photography, translation, and cleaning services.

Under this system, independent entrepreneurs pay a unified 15% tax on income, covering income tax, social security, and mandatory health insurance. An increased rate of 35% applies to annual income exceeding EUR 61,200.
