New candidate enters race for TRM director-general as Supervisory Board meets

Initially, six applications, not five, were submitted for the position of general director at Teleradio-Moldova (TRM). During an additional review of the official email, the Supervisory Board of TRM discovered that an application from Dumitru Vieru had been mistakenly omitted. Although it was submitted on time, it was not included in the initial count.
According to the regulations governing the organization and conduct of the competition, the Supervisory Board will review the submitted applications no later than five working days after the registration deadline.
In this context, the Board members will hold an urgent meeting on Thursday, July 16, to analyze these applications, as the interview stage is scheduled for Friday, July 17.
The competition for the position of General Director of TRM was initiated on June 9, following Vlad Țurcanu's resignation.
Initially, the Supervisory Board announced that five candidates had registered for the competition by July 10: Dorin Scobioală, Ecaterina Cheptanaru, Sergiu Sandulescu, Andrei Zapșa, and Adrian Graur.
However, at their meeting on July 14, the Board determined that only four of the five candidates met the eligibility requirements and were therefore admitted to the interview stage. The only candidate who did not pass the eligibility verification based on the submitted application was Adrian Graur, a musician and producer currently presenting a show on Radio Moldova Music.
Today, the members of the Supervisory Board will decide whether Dumitru Vieru qualifies for the next stage of the selection process.
We remind you that Vlad Țurcanu, the General Director of TRM, announced his resignation on May 18th.
He will continue to serve in his position until a new General Director is appointed, but no longer than six months from the date of his resignation. The Deputy General Directors will also remain in their roles until a new General Director is appointed.
The General Director is appointed for a term of seven years, which cannot be renewed.
