EcoVoucher launches a new session for over 820 families to replace old appliances

A new session of the "EcoVoucher" Program will run from July 18 to August 2. During this session, approximately 825 families will receive support to replace old household appliances with energy-efficient equipment.

According to the National Center for Sustainable Energy, the EcoVoucher program enhances energy efficiency in homes by providing vouchers worth 6,000 lei for the purchase of energy-efficient refrigerators and washing machines that comply with efficiency standards and European Conformity (CE) requirements.

The program specifically targets households with minor children, elderly individuals aged 63 and older, and people with severe disabilities, thereby improving living conditions and reducing energy costs.

The EcoVoucher program was developed by the government with support from the European Union. This edition of the Household Appliances Voucher Program is implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy as part of the "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies for Moldova" (E4M) project.

E4M is a collaborative project between GIZ and the Government of the Republic of Moldova, funded by the Government of Germany, with co-financing from the European Union, Norway, and Denmark.

To date, over 40,000 households nationwide have replaced their old appliances with more efficient models thanks to the EcoVoucher Program, resulting in lower electricity bills. Ion Muntean, the Director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy, stated on Moldova 1 that the initiative generates annual savings estimated in the tens of millions of lei and significantly reduces energy consumption.
