Moldova wins six medals at International Biology and Chemistry Olympiads
Students from the Republic of Moldova won six medals—gold, silver, and bronze—at the international Biology and Chemistry Olympiads held in Lithuania and Uzbekistan from July 10 to 19.
The Olympic team from the Republic of Moldova achieved notable success at the International Biology Olympiad held in Vilnius, Lithuania, winning two bronze medals and receiving an honorable mention.
The bronze medalists are Delia Sidlețchi from the "Mircea Eliade" Theoretical Lyceum in Chișinău and Cătălin Gorincioi, a student from the "Spiru Haret" Theoretical Lyceum.
Gabriel Diug, a student at the "Aristotel" Republican Theoretical Lyceum in Chișinău, earned an honorable mention.
This 37th edition of the International Biology Olympiad featured 305 students from 79 countries. Moldova was represented by four students and two teachers: Dr. Mihai Leșanu, an associate professor of biology, and Constantin Babuc, an international Olympian and student at the "Nicolae Testemitanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
Moldovan students achieved remarkable success at the International Chemistry Olympiad held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, winning four medals: one gold, two silver, and one bronze.
The gold medal was awarded to Stepan Andrei, a student from the “N. V. Gogol” Theoretical Lyceum in Chisinau. Oana Furculița and Bogdan Leahu, both students at the “Orizont” Theoretical Lyceum in Durlești, each won a silver medal. The bronze medal was earned by Vladimir Caras, also a student at the “N. V. Gogol” Theoretical Lyceum in Chisinau.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, a total of 364 students from 93 countries participated in the 58th edition of the International Chemistry Olympiad. The Republic of Moldova was represented by four students and their chemistry teachers, Ion Bulimestru and Vasilii Graur.
