Weather alert: Heavy rain and storms ahead

Meteorologists issued a Yellow Code warning for atmospheric instability in the Republic of Moldova. Short-term rain is expected, along with lightning, hail, and increased winds. This warning is in effect on Monday, July 20, from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
The Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring Authority has forecast short-term rainfall over large areas, which may be accompanied by lightning. In some places, the rain could be heavy, with precipitation amounts ranging from 15 to 45 liters per square meter. There is also a possibility of hail and wind gusts reaching 15 to 20 meters per second.
According to the map provided by the Authority, a Code Yellow warning is primarily in effect for the southern and central districts of the Republic of Moldova. In the northern region, the risk is lower, classified under Code Green, with no dangerous meteorological phenomena expected.

In light of the weather warning, citizens are advised to avoid non-essential travel. During the storm, it is important to seek shelter in safe locations. Drivers should refrain from stopping or parking their vehicles near trees, billboards, or light structures, as these may be impacted by strong gusts of wind.
Authorities also recommend closing windows and securing any items on balconies and terraces. During electrical storms, it is best to avoid using electrical appliances and to remain indoors.
In case of emergencies, citizens should call the single emergency number, 112.
