Moldova's new cabinet led by Prime Minister Tofan sworn in
Members of the new cabinet, led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, were officially sworn in on July 22 during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Chișinău.
President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu attended the event as ministers took their oath of office to uphold the constitution and defend the country's sovereignty.
The new administration received a vote of confidence in Parliament with 53 votes from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). Opposition lawmakers cast 21 votes against, while 21 abstained.
Priority on EU Integration
President Maia Sandu urged the new cabinet to maintain momentum on key reforms and prioritize alignment with European Union standards.
She highlighted the need to strengthen economic growth, improve public asset management, accelerate the absorption of EU funds, and bolster national security and energy resilience.
"The agenda is clear and ambitious, and expectations are high," President Sandu stated, expressing full confidence in the new government's ability to deliver results amid a complex regional context.
Leadership continuity and key appointments
The new lineup largely preserves continuity with the outgoing government, introducing changes in four key portfolios: Finance, Health, Culture, and Agriculture.
Victoria Belous returns to lead the Ministry of Finance, while neurologist Alexandru Gasnaș steps in as Minister of Health. Dan Suruceanu assumes leadership of the Ministry of Culture, and Radu Musteață takes over the Ministry of Agriculture.
Key ministries remain under their previous leadership, including Foreign Affairs under Mihai Popșoi, Infrastructure under Vladimir Bolea, Defense under Anatolie Nosatîi, and European Integration under Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov.
