Several families allegedly scammed in travel package scheme; agency owner detained

Several families from the Republic of Moldova paid nearly one million lei for vacations that were never provided by the travel agency. Law enforcement officials have announced the arrest of the agency's founder and administrator, a 25-year-old woman.

The arrest occurred after victims contacted the police, claiming they had been misled by representatives of a tourism company.

“They allegedly purchased travel packages for their vacation but did not receive the services they had paid for.

During the investigation, the company’s 25-year-old founder and administrator was detained for 72 hours and is being criminally investigated for fraud,” informs the General Inspectorate of Police.

Law enforcement officials started a criminal case, and the young woman faces a potential prison sentence of four to eight years.
