Dorin Recean, meeting with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship, Thomas Mayr-Harting: Transnistrian settlement will be achieved only by peaceful means

The security situation in the region and the current format of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement were discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the Special Representative of the North Macedonian Chairmanship-in-Office of the OSCE Thomas Mayr-Harting.

During the meeting, the Moldovan Prime Minister said that our country will continue to ensure peace and security in the region, and the European course does not present an obstacle to this. "Settlement will be achieved only by peaceful means," Dorin Recean said.

At the same time, the Chief Executive stressed the need to promote confidence-building programmes on both sides of the Dniester River, including on the economic and social tracks.

Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting praised the existing dialogue in the 1+1 negotiating format and reconfirmed the commitment of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe to provide the necessary assistance for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
