Brazilian football star Amoroso runs masterclass for Moldovan kids
Former Brazil international Márcio Amoroso surprised young footballers in Chișinău this week, visiting the training academy of Moldovan top-flight club Zimbru Chișinău. The Brazilian striker fielded questions from the children, posed for photos, and signed autographs.
"The children asked very good questions. I'm glad they know who I am and what my career looks like — they've done their research," Amoroso said.
Amoroso also led a short masterclass for the young players. Tudor Butucel, a first-team player at Zimbru Chișinău, joined the session alongside the children.
"It was a big surprise — famous players like this rarely come to Moldova," one of the young footballers said. "He seemed genuinely kind, coming to sign autographs and take photos with us."
Another young player called it "a beautiful experience, a moment I won't forget."
Amoroso left the children with a piece of advice drawn from his own career.
"Every child who plays football starts out treating it as fun. Over time, you start thinking about turning professional — and that's a very hard road," he said. "My advice is to chase your dream, remember how much you loved it at the start, and give everything you have to become a professional."
Amoroso built his career at clubs including Udinese, Parma, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan, winning the Bundesliga title with Dortmund in 2002. He scored 150 goals at club level, by his own account, over the course of his playing days. Between 1995 and 2003, the striker earned 19 caps for Brazil, scoring 9 goals, and was part of the squad that won the 1999 Copa América.
