Roman Roșca set to replace Alexandr Trubca as CEC seeks mandate validation
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has requested that the Constitutional Court validate the mandate of Roman Roșca, who was an alternate candidate on the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) list in the recent parliamentary elections. This decision was made during a meeting on July 28, after the commission acknowledged the vacancy of a deputy mandate following Alexandr Trubca's resignation.
The Vice President of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Pavel Postica, clarified that the file included both the refusal declaration submitted by Gheorghe Hajder, the next candidate on the PAS list, and the consent declaration from Roman Roșca. Hajder renounced his mandate to continue his role as Minister of the Environment.
Additionally, the CEC received opinions from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Integrity Authority, the National Probation Inspectorate, and the Ministry of Justice. These opinions confirm that Roman Roșca meets the conditions outlined in Article 16 of the Electoral Code and faces no restrictions regarding the exercise of his mandate.
Roman Roșca is in the 72nd position on the PAS list for the September 2025 parliamentary elections. At the end of June this year, he was appointed Secretary of State at the Reintegration Policies Bureau. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Special Parliamentary Commission for Monitoring and Parliamentary Control over the Political Achievements of the Reintegration of the Republic of Moldova and as Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration in the government led by Dorin Recean.
Roman Roșca is 44 years old, originally from the left bank of the Nistru, and graduated with a law degree from the State University of Moldova.
The mandate became vacant after PAS deputy Alexandr Trubca resigned from Parliament amid a scandal involving millions of investments in real estate businesses in Trușeni and Romania during his tenure as a deputy.
