Victoria Belous resigns from parliament to stay finance minister

Moldovan Finance Minister Victoria Belous has submitted her resignation as a Member of Parliament, effective July 31. The decision follows her appointment to lead the Finance Ministry in the newly sworn-in cabinet of Prime Minister Vasile Tofan on July 22.
Belous previously held the position of Finance Minister from August 2024 to October 2025.
Parliamentary seat succession
Her vacant seat in parliament is expected to be assumed by Victor Matraguna, who was listed 73rd on the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) candidate list for the September 28, 2025 parliamentary elections.
Matraguna, 41, is a legal professional currently serving as head of the Orhei Territorial Office of the State Chancellery.
