Moldova PM Vasile Tofan makes first official visit to Romania
Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan arrived in Bucharest on Thursday, July 30, marking his first official foreign trip since taking office.
He was received with full military honors at Victoria Palace by Romania’s Acting Prime Minister, Ilie Bolojan, ahead of bilateral talks between the two delegations.
Strategic partnership and European integration
In a statement released shortly after his arrival, Tofan emphasized the vital nature of bilateral relations, naming Romania as Moldova's primary strategic partner and most steadfast supporter on its path toward European Union membership.
Accompanied by Ministers Vladimir Bolea and Dorin Junghietu, the Moldovan Premier noted that the visit aims to deepen cooperation through concrete economic, energy, infrastructure, security, and educational projects.
The official agenda between Tofan and Bolojan focuses on strategic cross-border infrastructure, economic integration, and regional security developments impacting citizens on both sides of the Prut River. Joint press statements are scheduled at the conclusion of their meetings.
High-level meetings and business agenda
During his stay in Bucharest, Prime Minister Tofan is also scheduled to hold high-level talks with Romanian President Nicușor Dan and parliamentary leadership, including Chamber of Deputies President Sorin Grindeanu and Senate President Mircea Abrudean.
To foster bilateral trade and economic cooperation, the Moldovan Prime Minister will additionally address representatives of the Bessarabian Business Club in a dedicated session aimed at boosting cross-border investments.
