Moldova FM Popsoi visits Kyiv, honors fallen heroes
Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, arrived in Kyiv on a working visit on August 3, at the invitation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
During the visit, the two officials inspected the Lukianivka metro station, which was severely damaged by Russian missile strikes on July 19. Following the site visit, the diplomats proceeded to Independence Square to honor the memory of fallen Ukrainian soldiers.
"The unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression continues, for the fifth consecutive year, to take lives, tear families apart, and destroy towns and villages," said Mihai Popșoi. "The portraits displayed here in Independence Square remind us of the courage and devotion of those who defended their homeland, sacrificing their lives so Ukraine remains free."
The Moldovan foreign minister commended the resilience of the Ukrainian people, emphasizing that their defense directly contributes to the security of the Republic of Moldova and the broader European continent.
"This war must stop," Popșoi added. "We stand in full solidarity with Ukraine and remain united in defending peace, freedom, and the right of every nation to decide its own future."
