Treasure in oak barrels: Moldovan company preserving a distillate over 75 years old

Divin "Prezident", aged for 50 years, and a distillate from 1949 are among the treasures of the "Barza Albă" enterprise in Bălți. This company, recognized as part of the national cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova, has achieved annual revenues of nearly 90 million lei.

"Barza Albă" originated in 1944, and the industrial production of divin began in 1979. The "Belîi Aist" brand, initially produced exclusively at the factory in Bălți, has become one of the most famous divin brands in the former Soviet space.

The company operates aging galleries that house thousands of oak barrels. Its oldest distillate, which is part of the company’s heritage, dates back to 1949. Among its notable products is the "Prezident" distillate, which has been matured for 50 years.

In July 2024, the company absorbed "Aroma," consolidating its distillate production activities within the same state-owned organization.

The average salary within the company increased from 16,200 lei in 2024 to 18,200 lei in 2025.

The name "Barza Albă" comes from a Moldovan legend where a flock of storks saved the defenders of a besieged fortress by delivering them bunches of grapes.
