Fragments of a Russian Geran-2 drone were found near Văleni, Cahul district

This evening, several fragments of a Geran-2 drone were discovered near the village of Văleni in the Cahul district. According to the police, the identification was based on the drone's construction characteristics, the materials used in its manufacture, and the markings found on the fragments.

The exact time of the crash and its trajectory are still unknown.
Since the onset of the war in Ukraine, numerous drones launched by the Russian Federation have illegally entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, and several of them have crashed on Moldovan territory.
The latest incident occurred in mid-July when a drone loaded with approximately 40 kilograms of explosives fell near a house in the village of Copanca, located in the Căușeni district. Military sappers safely detonated the explosives.

The authorities in Chisinau have consistently sent protest notes to the ambassador-designate of the Russian Federation, stressing that such incidents pose a significant threat to national security.
