August 9 electricity demand fully covered: Energocom urges savings during evening hours
The Republic of Moldova will receive electricity on Sunday, August 9, as announced by Energocom. The company purchased a total of 9,209 MWh to meet national consumption.
Of this volume, 30.81% comes from local renewable sources, 65.57% from bilateral import contracts, 2.24% from the Romanian Day-Ahead Market, through OPCOM and the Romanian Commodity Exchange, and 1.39% from district heating power plants.
Energocom states that although today's needs are covered, the regional situation remains difficult, and the energy available on external markets continues to be expensive, especially during peak hours.
The company urges citizens to continue to use electricity rationally, especially between 18:00 and 23:00.
"We urge citizens to continue to use electricity rationally, especially between 18:00 and 23:00, to avoid waste and, where possible, to postpone the use of high-consumption appliances for other times of the day," the institution stated.
The Republic of Moldova has been on alert in the energy and hydrological sectors since July 28 for a duration of 30 days due to issues in oil product supply chains and a significant drop in water levels in the Nistru River.
