Moldova restores Bălți–Dnestrovsk 330 kV power line after storm
Moldova’s state power grid operator, Moldelectrica, has fully repaired and re-energized the 330 kV Bălți–Dnestrovsk overhead power line following severe storm damage on 6 August.
The critical high-voltage transmission line was knocked out of service after a violent storm collapsed around ten transmission towers near the village region roughly 15 kilometers from the municipality of Bălți.
Comprehensive repairs and structural restoration
To restore the grid's operation, technical teams replaced the damaged transmission towers and fully reconstructed their supporting structures. Crews also installed new high-voltage insulators to meet required safety standards for the 330 kV class and repaired severed conductor cables.
Following structural assembly, technicians conducted thorough safety checks, verifying conductor clearances, fastening integrity, and critical safety margins across the affected section.
Full grid reintegration and compliance testing
Before re-energizing the line, Moldelectrica subjected the infrastructure to comprehensive technical and compliance testing to ensure operational safety.
The line has now been fully reintegrated into the national transmission scheme, restoring high grid reliability and security of supply for the region.
