Farmers seek 105 million lei from the state for milk production

Livestock breeders in the country have requested over 105 million lei in subsidies for cow, sheep, and goat milk, based on applications submitted between July and mid-August. The Agricultural Intervention and Payments Agency (AIPA) has announced that the process of verifying eligibility and authorizing the funds is currently in progress.
According to the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA), a total of 226 applications have been submitted, seeking financial support amounting to 105.39 million lei.
Payments are calculated based on the quantity of milk sold and will apply to cow, sheep, and goat milk sold between July 1 and December 31, 2025.
The funds for these payments will come from the resources allocated within the Reform Agenda linked to the Growth Plan of the Republic of Moldova for the years 2025 to 2027, as well as from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and the Rural Environment.
AIPA will review the submitted applications, verify that applicants meet the eligibility criteria, authorize the payments, and announce the results regarding these authorizations.
Official data published by the National Bureau of Statistics indicates that in 2025, there were 95,800 heads of cattle and over 531,000 sheep and goats in the Republic of Moldova.
Additionally, milk production increased by 5.7% in 2024, reaching 285,500 tons.
