Ukraine sets long-range strike priorities through September 2026

Ukraine has finalized its priority targets for long-range operations inside Russian territory through September 2026, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced following a high-level military assessment.

The strategic decision follows a comprehensive review of frontline stability, urban defense systems, and deep-strike outcomes from the first half of August.

Frontline dynamics in Donetsk

Military leadership focused heavily on critical sectors across the Donetsk region, analyzing ongoing defense operations in Kostiantynivka, Slovyansk, and Pokrovsk.

"We have detailed intelligence regarding Russian operational objectives in these sectors, and our response is fully prepared," President Zelensky stated, praising units employing multi-class drone technology to hold defensive lines.

Air defense and leadership reshuffles

Acting Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara presented tactical measures to secure frontline communities, urban centers, and critical logistics against Russian drone saturation attacks.

To reinforce vulnerable sectors, President Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi agreed on additional organizational enhancements. Zelensky confirmed that upcoming leadership reshuffles within the military structure will be implemented based on recommendations from the Commander-in-Chief.

Validating deep-strike operations

A key segment of the meeting addressed long-range operations executed during early August. Officials reconfirmed operational priorities for the coming weeks and throughout September 2026.

President Zelensky emphasized that verified intelligence assessments of damage inflicted inside Russia confirm the effectiveness of Ukraine's long-range strategy.
